Childhood obesity is at a lifetime high for the United States. Children are doing less exercise and more video game playing causing health problems for the child. Parents can help to get rid of obesity in their children by taking an active role in their health and entertainment. Parents should set guidelines on the amount of time that children are allowed to play video games or watch television. Provide the children with family adventures to involve parents and children.

Water is great for helping burn calories and flushing impurities from the body.
Another way to prevent childhood obesity is by providing the children with healthy snack alternatives. Fruits and fresh vegetables are great but sometimes are not what the child is craving. Provide the child with alternatives to those unhealthy potato chips or candy by cooking healthy baked potato crisps, or sugary snacks using sugar substitutes. Make sure the sugar substitutes are low in sugar alcohol or saccharin. Providing healthy snacks that they children like will help him or her eats better and lose excess weight.
